Scandal Hill privacy policy
Scandal Hill is a merge-and-story game for Android made by Playmos. This page lists everything the game and its server collect, why, and how to have it deleted. The game has no sign-up: you play without an account, name, email or password.
What the game collects
- A random install identifier and key, made by the app on your phone the first time it opens. They let the server recognise your install so it can send you the current game content and any gift from our support team. They are not tied to your name, phone number, email, Google account or advertising ID.
- A player ID (like SH-7K3Q9P2M) the server gives your install, shown in the game under Settings, so you can quote it when you contact us.
- App and device basics: the game version, that it runs on Android, whether it is a test build, and your phone's time-zone offset (so daily rewards reset at your midnight).
- A progress summary: your level, coins and gems, so support can help you if something goes wrong.
- Cloud save: a copy of your game progress (your village, board, coins, gems, story and the record of gems and offers you bought) and the list of game moves since the last copy, sent when you leave the game and at big moments such as a level-up or a purchase. We keep the latest copy and up to 20 earlier ones so you can get your village back on a new phone or after reinstalling, and we replay the moves to check that the progress came from normal play (this protects the game and its players from cheating). They hold no personal data.
- Google Play Games sign-in: when you tap Settings → Save progress, or when your phone is already signed in to Play Games, the game signs in and we receive your Play Games player ID for this game from Google. We keep it only as a one-way hash, to find your cloud save again when you install the game on another phone (the Recover progress button). We do not receive your name, email, friends or Google account details, and you can play without Play Games.
- How the game is played: game events such as sessions started, tutorial steps, levels reached, orders served, coins, gems and energy earned and spent, rewarded ads watched, offers shown and bought, live events joined and story scenes watched, sent from your install so we can find where the game is too hard or confusing. These are game events and numbers only, never anything you type.
- Crash and performance reports: if the game crashes or freezes, the next launch sends the error and where in the game's code it happened, with the game version, Android version, phone model and memory size; while you play it sends the frame rate and memory use every few minutes. They carry no personal data and are used only to fix the game.
- Purchase history: if you buy gems, an offer or the Festival Pass, Google Play handles the payment. Our server then asks Google Play to confirm the purchase and keeps a record of it with your player id: the product, its listed price, the Google Play order number, the purchase time and country/region Google reports, whether it was a test purchase, and its status (delivered, refunded). We keep a one-way fingerprint of the purchase token, not the token itself. We use this record to deliver what you bought exactly once, to restore the Festival Pass on a new install, to handle refunds and to prevent fraud, and we count verified purchases (product and price, no personal data) in our game statistics. We never see or store your card or other payment details, your name or your email address. The record is deleted with your account.
What the game does not collect
No email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise or approximate location, advertising ID, device identifiers or anything from other apps. The current version shows no ads; if a later version adds them, this page will name the ad network and what it collects before that version is released.
How it is used and shared
Only to run the game: deliver content and gifts, keep daily timers honest, give support, and improve the game. We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone for advertising. The server runs on Google Cloud, which stores it for us as our service provider (game events and crash reports in Google BigQuery, in the EU).
How long it is kept
Your install record, progress summary, cloud save and Play Games link are kept while you play. Game events and crash reports are kept for up to 14 months, then deleted automatically. Everything about your install is deleted when you delete your account: it leaves our analytics at once and is erased from them within a day.
Deleting your data
In the game: Settings → Delete my account. It deletes everything our server holds for your account at once, including every cloud save and the Play Games link (so a new phone can no longer restore it), and your progress on the phone. If you no longer have the game, use the form on https://merge-api-spcgrt7kba-ew.a.run.app/delete-account or email us with your player ID.
Children
Scandal Hill is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the game, contact us and we will delete the install's data.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top; important changes are also announced in the game.
